Radisson Blu Hotel

Golden Lane Dublin

An Architectural Installation celebrating the historical location of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane - situated on one of the oldest streets in Dublin. The Lane itself dates from 1466 and is recorded as Cross Lane on John Speed’s map of Dublin 1610. It later became known as Golden Lane after the arrival of the Guildhall for Goldsmiths.

Drawing inspiration from the the historical heritage of the site, and the street name Golden Lane, we have created a bespoke Gold Leaf Verre Églomisé feature Wall Panel for the Entrance Lobby. The artwork includes an adaptation of John Speed’s original map which was back-gilded entirely by hand with genuine 24 carat gold leaf.

Installation by Group Design Woodworking

The current location of the hotel can be seen on the gilded map which has been adapted to indicate three important reference points in the Key - Saint Patrick’s Cathedral (63), Dublin Castle (23) and Golden Lane (68) where the Radisson Blu Hotel is located today.
